These shower tips will make your hair smooth and soft

Sure shampoo and water will get the job done, but make a few tweaks to your hair washing and drying regimen, and you will see a difference in your hair within a few days.

1. Brush your hair before your shower

Wait what? Before? Yup you read right! If you are going to wet your hair, give it a good comb beforehand to reduce the likelihood of tangles when it gets wet. This extra step is especially beneficial if you have curly or coarse hair! Use a brush with bamboo bristles as it reduces static and will not snag your hair as much as plastic ones. Start at the bottom and work your way up.

Our brushes have smooth bamboo bristles to gently massage the scalp, increase blood circulation and enhance the overall volume of your hair. Shop them here

2. Cool or warm, not hot water temperature

Warm water is ideal for a comfortable shower without drying out the scalp and hair cuticles. The use of warm water will open up the hair cuticle and cold water will help to seal it back down. This simple switch can promote shinier and healthier hair. Avoid using very hot water because it strips the scalp and hair of its natural oils.

You've Been Shampooing Your Hair Wrong This Whole Time

3. Focus on the scalp

All the build up happens on our scalp. The purpose of shampooing is to rid your scalp of its daily build-up, dead skin cells, and additional hair products. Rubbing shampoo on the lengths of your hair will only strip it of its natural oils and leave it looking dry and lifeless. So, the next time you shower, focus on massaging the shampoo in a circular motion into your scalp until it lathers up. The massage will also help improve the blood circulation to your hair follicles and boost hair growth. The use of our solid shampoo also aids in the sensation of a scalp massage!

4. Monitor your shampooing time

Your hair is in its most fragile state when it is wet. So, try to shampoo and condition your hair within 15 minutes of wetting it to keep damage and breakage at the minimum. Conditioners seal your cuticles upon application so it is a myth to assume that it will penetrate deeper if you leave it longer. In fact, leaving the conditioner on for too long can actually make your hair greasy. Our solid conditioners work instantaneously so you can wash it off immediately after combing it down your hair ends!

9 Essential Oils for Hair Growth & Health: What to Use & How to Use

5. Applying hair oil an hour before you shower

To reduce frizziness after shower, you can pre-condition and moisturize your hair with hair oil. The extra step provides your hair with a protective layer. This is helpful because shampooing can strip moisture from your hair, and applying a conditioner after shampooing is not always enough to restore lost moisture. We recommend the use of the Seven Perfect Hair Serum Drops, but you can also use other oils such as Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Olive or Coconut oil onto your hair and scalp to nourish, repair and restore shine to your hair.

6. Do not apply conditioner on the scalp

You probably already know this but we are still going to reiterate it – don’t apply conditioner to your scalp. It will weigh your hair down and cause a build up on your scalp.
